Puerto Ordaz

Puerto Ordaz is a sector of Ciudad Guayana in the Caroní municipality of Bolívar state, located in southeastern Venezuela. Founded simultaneously with Ciudad Piar, its twin city, in 1952 as a mining export port on the banks of the Caroní River, at the point where it flows into the Orinoco. Puerto Ordaz is home to mining, steel and hydroelectric companies. Its airport serves as a link between small airports in the jungle areas of Bolívar State and the rest of the country. Together with the sectors of Matanzas, Unare, Alta Vista and the town of San Felix, they form an urban agglomeration that since July 2, 1961 officially receives the name of Ciudad Guayana. The Llovizna Falls is located in the Llovizna Park in Puerto Ordaz. In recent years, the nearby Macagua Dam has reduced the amount of water flowing through the falls, but the waterfall remains spectacular and returns to its former glory many times a year when the dam's sluice gates are opened. The Llovizna park is very spacious, with lots of green areas and benches, and wide and safe walkways that people use for cycling, running, jogging or just walking. The park is full of vibrant life, home to many species. The most frequent animals in the park are the Tufted Capuchins, which usually interact with park visitors and are very friendly with children. The park is also home to a wide variety of spiders, including Tarantula, Psalmopoeus irminia and Epicadus. But there are also many kinds of snakes, the most common being the Anaconda. The biodiversity of the park is due to the fact that it is crossed by two rivers, one of which is the second longest in South America, the Orinoco.
