Fualifeke

Fualifeke is a small islet of Funafuti, which is the capital of Tuvalu. Fualifeke is located in the northern part of the lagoon of Funafuti Atoll. The lagoon is 24.5 km long in a north-south direction and 17.5 km wide in an east-west direction, covering an area of 275 km2, which makes it by far the largest lagoon in the Tuvalu Islands. In some places it is around 52 meters deep, but in others it is only 6 meters deep, due to the many submerged rocks and reefs that line its bottom, some of which are that close to the surface. The deepest basin is located in the northern part of the lagoon, with a maximum recorded depth of 54.7 meters, whereas in the southern part of the lagoon there is a very narrow, shallow basin.
