Abary River Estuary

Abary River is a little river in the north of Guyana that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The estuary is home to manatees, some of which have been relocated to the Georgetown’s National Park and Botanical Gardens. The Abary River is one of the best places for birdwatching, you can see in the area Bicolored Conebill, Greater Yellowlegs, Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron and Guianan Gnatcatcher. Among the special birds of the area are the Blood-Colored Woodpecker and Rufous Crab Hawk. Other species include the Mangrove Cuckoo, the Scarlet Ibis, the Muscovy Duck, the Little Cuckoo, the American Pygmy Kingfisher, the White-Bellied Kingfisher, the Piculet and Bicolored Conebill and the Black Hawk-Eagle. Migratory birds include the Northern Waterthrush, the Yellow Warbler and the Blackpoll Warbler.
