Woodford Hill

Woodford Hill is a picturesque village on the northeast coast of Dominica, which is home to the stunning beaches, lush vegetation and serene atmosphere. An Amerindian village once stood at the mouth of the Woodford Hill River approximately 1400 years ago, and the present village of Woodford Hill lies on the western boundary of the old homestead. Woodford Hill has a number of tourist attractions, such as Batibou Beach. This spectacular white sand beach is located in a hidden cove, and is one of Dominica's most beautiful beaches. Nearby is Red Rocks, a magnificent rock formation that provides spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Hampstead Beach is another lovely beach not far from Woodford Hill. It is also a great place for snorkeling, diving and swimming. Nearby is the Carib Cultural Village, where you can learn about the Carib people, their culture, traditions and way of life. The Indian River, a peaceful and tranquil river, runs through a mangrove forest. There are guided boat trips along the river where you can see wildlife, birds and plants, including the famous 'Buttonwood Tree' where scenes from the film Pirates of the Caribbean were shot. All in all, Woodford Hill is a fantastic destination for discovering natural beauty, history and culture.
