Vágar

The island of Vágar is the most westerly of the largest islands in the Faroe Islands. The island is rich in attractions and natural wonders. Vágar is home to many of the most popular places in the Faroe Islands: Múlafossur waterfall in the picturesque village of Gásadalur, the 313-meter rock formation Trøllkonufingur near the village of Sørvágur, and the sea stack Dunnesdrangar on the west side of the airport. The shape of the island of Vágar is quite distinctive, as it looks like a dog's head on maps. Sørvágsfjørður is its mouth and Fjallavatn its eye. The island is also home to the Bøsdalafossur waterfall, which flows into the North Atlantic from Leitisvatn, the largest lake on the Faroe Islands. The village of Bøur is a favorite place for travelers, from here you can see the famous Drangarnir sea stacks. Árnafjall is a mountain that can be seen from the remote village of Gásadalur. Árnafjall is 722 meters high, and it is the highest mountain on the island of Vágar.
