Renbugten Icefjord

The Renbugten Icefjord is located in the Kaiser Franz Joseph Fjord. The valleys of Renbugten and Blomsterbugten are among the most scenic in Greenland, with icy blues, bold golds, fiery reds and mossy greens. The valley leading up to Renbukten contains a small glacier from the northeast, and just to the left of it, an ice-free valley enters from the northwest. Renbugten is also known as Reindeer Bay, because of the herd of 12 reindeer seen during one of the first expeditions. In 1899, A.G. Nathorst was the first and last white person to observe a Dwarf Reindeer in Northeast Greenland. The area is also home to the Arctic Hare, a common and delightful sight.
