Pim Island

Formerly known as Bedford Pim Island, Pim Island is located off the eastern coast of Ellesmere Island in the Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut Territory, Canada. It is located within the Arctic Archipelago and is part of the Queen Elizabeth Islands. In 1883, the Adolphus Greely expedition wintered at Camp Clay on the island, and Cape Sabine was the rescue site for the Greely and Lady Franklin's Bay Expedition in 1884. The island is named Bedford Pim, in honor of the naval officer and barrister of HMS Resolute. In 1923, the National Geographic Society had a plaque erected on Pim Island in memory of the dead men of the Adolphus Greely expedition.
