Metinaro

Metinaro town is located in Metinaro Subdistrict in Dili District. The coastline has a wonderful dive area with a rich marine life. The 1st East Timorese Battalion F-FDTL is also based at Metinaro. The Recruit Training Center and the Defense Force Language School are also located at Metinaro Barracks. Training and expertise are provided by the Australian Army to the F-FDTL. Also nearby is the Metinaro Mangrove Protected Area, known for its diversity of plant species. Research has shown that nine plant species grow here.
