Namai Bay

Namai Bay is located in Ngiwal State, which is one of the sixteen states of Palau. Ngiwal lies between Melekeok and Ngaraard, on the north-central eastern coast of Babeldaob Island. Ngiwal stretches from the coast to Rael Kedam and contains the Ngeredekuu River drainage. The Ngeredekuu originates on the forested eastern slopes of Rael Kedam and flows in a large northwest-southeast oriented valley. Between the Ngeredekuu Valley and the wide sandy plain along the coast is a coastal ridge. Thin mangroves line the coast at Namai Bay. A ridge system runs along the coast, with the towering Tochobei Hill near the center. Not far from Namai Bay, Palau's only natural freshwater lake is Lake Ngardok, a sanctuary and important breeding ground for the endangered Saltwater Crocodile. The Ngerdorch River serves as a route for crocodiles to the sea and into the Namai Bay.
