Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the world's religious and historical center. Sacred to Jews, Muslims and Christians, Jerusalem has always been a surreal and vibrant city of great symbolic importance. Jerusalem's Old City contains many historical and religious elements which make it unique. The one-square-kilometer walled area is of central importance to the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths. The Dome of the Rock, built in the 7th century and decorated with beautiful geometric and floral motifs, stands out among the 220 historical monuments. As the site of Abraham's sacrifice, it is recognized by all three religions. The Western Wall separates the quarters of the various religious communities, while the Rotunda of the Resurrection in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre houses the tomb of Christ. In the Old City, there are four neighborhoods: Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Armenian. The Old City of Jerusalem is a must-see for anyone visiting Israel and the Middle East, as it is one of the most sought-after places in the world. Jerusalem has an amazing variety of museums. Among them, Yad Vashem may be the most important. This is Israel's memorial to the millions who perished in the Holocaust, located on beautiful Mount Herzl. This is an incredible museum that tells the story of the Holocaust. It does so with words, chilling architecture, and moving multi-media displays. Yad Vashem is not a fun place to visit, but it is a place everyone should visit. The Israel Museum, which houses a vast array of artistic, archaeological, historical and cultural exhibits, is located just down the road from Yad Vashem. Among them are the world-famous Dead Sea Scrolls.
