Haifa

Situated on the slopes of Mount Carmel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Haifa is Israel's third largest city. Some refer to Haifa as "Israel's San Francisco". The Bah'ai Gardens are undoubtedly the crown jewel of the city when it comes to tourism. They are part of the Bah'ai World Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For members of the Bah'ai faith, these beautiful gardens are a place of pilgrimage. They are situated on terraces that slope down from Mount Carmel to the magnificent Mediterranean Sea. At the foot of the gardens are the German colonies of Haifa. The neighborhood is famous for its pretty streets of restored Templar-era buildings. Lined with restaurants and cafes, the main street of the German Colony leads straight from the bottom of the Gardens to the coast. Haifa is also home to some of Israel's top museums. Israel's national science museum, the Madatech Science and Technology Museum, is particularly noteworthy. The city's zoo, the Haifa Educational Zoo, has a beautiful setting on Mount Carmel and is home to over 100 species of wildlife. The history of the Israeli Navy and some of its major achievements are documented in the city's Clandestine Immigration and Navy Museum. The city is also known throughout Israel for its mixed Jewish and Arab population. Here they live peacefully side by side. This has resulted in some amazing Arab-Jewish blended cultures throughout the city. Haifa is blessed with stunning scenery and terrain to explore. The view from the Louis Promenade over the Haifa Harbor from the top of Mount Carmel is breathtaking.
