Ondame

Ondame is a village in Guinea-Bissau's Biombo region. Located on the coast, west of Bissau, where the Mansoa River runs into the sea. Biombo is a low coastal region, and shallow coastal areas are periodically submerged at high tide. The coastal areas have a maximum altitude of 300 m above sea level. The region has extensive areas rich in mangroves, crustaceans and oysters. The local economy is based on the traditional production of sugar cane, wine and palm oil, cashew nuts dried or distilled into wine, blacksmithing and weaving. These products are then sold in Bissau.
