Dimeka

Dimeka is located on the road from Turmi to Jinka, about 30 km to the north of Turmi. The village is worth a visit on Saturdays, when the tribal market is held here. This is the territory of the Hamers, and the market is mainly frequented by them, but you may also come across a few Banna farmers as well. Although it is difficult to tell them apart from the Hamers, as they dress and wear their hair very similarly, and the Banna and Hamers can intermarry, this can add to the confusion in distinguishing the two tribes. If you want to visit the village, you should hire a local guide who will take you around the stalls and tell you a lot of interesting things. The market has entire stalls selling necklaces and other jewelry, while other vendors offer clothes and various items, including the trumpets that Hamer women play during the bull-jumping ceremony, and finally, there are plenty of stalls selling wood for making fires.
