Bávaro

Bávaro is an area of Punta Cana, located in the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic, in the province of La Altagracia. With more visitors than any other city in the Caribbean, Punta Cana is the second most popular tourist destination in Latin America. It is known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and balnearies overlooking both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The climate is hot throughout most of the year, particularly in late summer and autumn when the northern tropics get the most sunshine. Bávaro was originally a town for resort workers, along with the Punta Cana resort and tourist region. As hotels began to be built along the eastern coast north of Punta Cana, so Bavaro became a center of services. Bavaro Beach is well known for being one of the largest beaches in the whole Caribbean. It runs uninterrupted for 48 kilometers. What makes it the most popular is its white sand and calm turquoise waters, which is perfect for swimming. A number of tourist attractions have been established, one of which is the Manatí Park in Bávaro, a marine park with manatees, dolphins and other animal species.
