La Restinga

La Restinga is a small fishing village in the southernmost tip of El Hierro and all Spain. The main attractions of this town are the variety of its seabed and the tranquility of its streets and coves. A perfect place for those who want to enjoy the sun on a beach far away from the major tourist centers. This is a beach that is protected from the waves thanks to the breakwater in the port, which makes it the perfect choice for the whole family. The crystal-clear waters of La Restinga offer an unforgettable snorkeling experience, allowing visitors to discover the incredible marine life that inhabits the ocean floor. Diving enthusiasts will also find numerous diving clubs from which to explore Mar de las Calmas, one of the most popular dive sites in the Canary Islands. There is even a museum with all the information about the 2011 underwater volcanic eruption that took place less than 3 kilometers off the coast. La Restinga is also an ideal base for exploring the natural wonders of El Hierro. The scenic hiking trails that crisscross the island offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding landscape. For those interested in history and culture, the village's museum showcases the rich heritage of El Hierro, with exhibits on the island's volcanic origins, its indigenous people, and its role in the Spanish Empire. In the evenings, La Restinga transforms into a charming and relaxed town, with its narrow streets and whitewashed houses illuminated by the soft glow of streetlights. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, taking in the tranquil atmosphere and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore.
