Tirana

Tirana is Albania's capital and largest city. It lies in the centre of the country, surrounded by hills and mountains, with the Dajti rising in the east and a gentle valley in the north-west overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. The city's location on the Tirana plain and proximity to the Mediterranean Sea make it particularly exposed to the Mediterranean seasonal climate. It is one of the wettest and sunniest cities in Europe, with 2544 hours of sunshine per year. Tirana offers a blend of traditional and modern lifestyles with a variety of arts, food, entertainment, music and nightlife. Its population celebrates many religious and other holidays, including Christmas, Eid, Hanukkah and Nowruz.
