Mongla

Mongla is an upazila in Bagerhat district. The Port of Mongla is a connecting seaport in Mongla Upazila, Khulna Division. It is the second biggest and second busiest seaport in Bangladesh. Mongla port is located near the shores of the Bay of Bengal and the Pashur River. The port's main exports are jute, leather, tobacco, frozen fish and shrimps. The main imports include grain, cement, fertilizer, coal and pulp. Near Mongla you will find the Chadpai Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary covers an area of 560 hectares. It is considered as one of the safe zones for vultures under the Vulture Safe Zone-2 Schedule 2012 of the Government of Bangladesh. The wetland of Chadpai is one of the dolphin sanctuaries in Bangladesh.
